Businesses in Bishop's Waltham are counting the cost of a raid by thieves seeking to steal lead from their properties.
Several were attacked at nighttime at the bottom end of the High Street, said Roger Hartley.
He said his property on St George's Square was targeted last Tuesday night Wednesday morning.
Mr Hartley, whose family can trace their links to this building back to 1428, said the lead was ripped from a platform over the bay windows. "This a grade two listed building and it will cost around £6-8,000 to replace.
"We have a police station in the village and a police commissioner but no-one seems to want to be responsible for doing anything about security in the village.

"My family has been here for 750 years so we know a bit about Bishop's Waltham but we have never known someone with such audacity, going up and down the High Street and helping themselves to lead. This was planned and someone must know who did it."
Mr Hartley raised the issue of how the thieves are able to dispose of the stolen material. "It will costs a lot to replace but more importantly who is receiving it? How are the thieves getting rid of it? The amount of information the seller should provide should stop this happening."
Also attacked were the Port Office, Sweet Corner and estate agents Weller Patrick. They either lost lead or suffered damage as the thieves tried and failed to remove the lining.
Mr Hartley said the Post Office had its security alarm deactivated.
A CCTV camera above The Square, which might have captured images of the burglaries, is not believed to be working, said Mr Hartley.
The police and Post Office have been asked to comment.
A police spokesperson said: "We were called at 2.17pm on Wednesday, October 5 to a report of criminal damage in Bishop's Waltham. It was reported that sometime between 4am and 4.30am (October 5), lead had been stolen from the roof of a property on Houchin Street, causing damage to the roof.
"Anyone who witnessed anything suspicious or has any private CCTV that may have captured something should call us on 101 quoting reference 44220405123."
Lead thieves often target churches that can be secluded or isolated. It is rare for thieves to target premises in town centres.
