A FOOTBALL club has spoken of the 'demoralising' consequences of recent thefts.

Romsey Town Football Club was targeted by theives on October 3 when money, spirits and tools were stolen.

Included in this was a charity tin for Alfie's Wish. A pool table was also broken in an attempt to steal money. However, the table at the club was free to use.

Alastair Bark, from Romsey Town Football Club, said: "This burgulary has affected everyone at the club. Staff, players and supporters. The forensics team were still at the ground collecting evidence as staff and players were arriving for Tuesday evening's fixture.

"The club is run by volunteers and supporters who dedicate many hours to try to ensure that Romsey has a good presence in the football pyramid. Along with everyone else, we are feeling the impact of cost increases, and incidents like this are demoralising and make it even harder for clubs like use to survive. What makes this even worse is that two charities also suffered as a result of the break in.

A spokesman from Hampshire Constabulary said: "A Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said: "We are investigating a burglary at Romsey Town Football Club, which happened sometime between 5pm on Monday October 3 and 7.10am the following morning.

"It was reported a quantity of money and other items had been stolen from the clubhouse.

"Enquiries are ongoing, anyone with information should call 101, quoting the reference 44220402961."
