DRIVERS are facing heavy delays in Winchester after a closure on the M3 has forced traffic to divert through routes in the city.
The motorway has been blocked off between J8 and J9 southbound since around 12.30am on Thursday, October 6 following a serious collision.
The Chronicle understands emergency services rushed to the scene, where police currently remain while they carry out crash investigation work.

Meanwhile, backlogs have continued to build on all approaches in Winchester and southbound on the A34 as officers continue to reroute traffic away from the site.
It's not yet clear whether there were any casualties during the incident, or how long the closure will remain in place.
Hampshire Police has been contacted for comment.
UPDATE: The M3 southbound between J8 and J9 is now fully open.
