A ROMSEY performer has joined the cast of a smash hit theatre show of mystery and dance.
Oscar Graves, aged 12, from central Romsey, is the latest to join the cast of SLEUTH, a crime thriller based on 1950s Britain brought to the stage by Southampton’s ZoieLogic Dance Theatre.
Last seen in Southampton in 2018, SLEUTH was a success with Brighton Fringe audiences in 2019 and has not been toured since due to Covid-19. Presented in 360-degree vision, SLEUTH enables the audience to sit on rotating stools to follow the action as it unfolds around them, voting on which clues from the story to follow.
Romsey School student Oscar made the cut following an open audition in July and has since been busy rehearsing in a range of venues that the show is touring.
Following performances at MAST Mayflower Studios by Southampton Guildhall, SLEUTH is now going to Southampton Central Hall for shows from October 8 to 15 before moving to Woking then Bicester.
Oscar got involved via his performing arts company Stagecoach who encouraged him to put himself forward for the role.
The keen performer said: “I feel brilliant about getting the role, I’m so happy. It’s wonderful to learn new things and I’m able to be so creative.”
Show creators, Zoielogic aims to combat inequality within dance with a particular focus on getting more boys dancing.
Oscar’s mum Lucy Graves said: “This show is different because it has been dedicated to dance. Often when Oscar performs dance is overshadowed by the singing and the acting, but this is an all-dance show aimed at boys, breaking the stereotype surrounding boys and dance and encouraging them to take part.”
In addition to the performing arts groups, Oscar has been supported by his school and his friends, some of which have tickets for the upcoming shows at Southampton Central Hall.

Founder and artistic director, Zoie Golding MBE, said: “Sleuth is a show that puts the audience right at the heart of it. I love how live the show feels because the audience chooses how the story unfolds and the dancers have to react in a matter of seconds! I am very proud of this work as it gives people a really fun and unique experience of dance.”
