A WINCHESTER based care provider is helping over-65s get more from their tech gadgets.
Everycare is hosting a free event for older people and their families to bring their, phones, laptops and tablets to learn how to be a more confident tech-user.
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) 2021 reported that 3.36m adults in the UK have never used the internet, suggesting that 46 per cent of adults aged 75 and over still struggle to get online.
TechFest65, as hosted by the Winchester care provider, will take place on Thursday, October 20, 1.30-3.30pm at The Arc in Jewry Street.
The event is designed to help local people get more from their tech gadgets and provide an opportunity to discover how new, simple-to-use devices can help older people live safely and with confidence.
A series of hands-on workshops will take place throughout the afternoon with attendees encouraged to bring their own technological devices to use. While smartphones and tablets are the main focus of the workshop, participants will also be able to explore social media, apps, the internet and more.
Tickets are free and can be booked by emailing booking@techfest65.co.uk or phoning Everycare on 01962 842 548.
Everycare supports older people living at home in Winchester, Twyford, Chandlers Ford, Eastleigh, Alresford and central Hampshire with expert, trained home care professionals.
