TWO bands are coming together to provide an evening of community music-making with a varied programme to suit all tastes.

Southampton Concert Wind Band (SCWB) will be sharing the stage with the Band of the Hampshire Constabulary at Chandler’s Ford Methodist Church on October 1.

The band have been busy rehearsing separately over the past month and will come together for the first time at the concert on Saturday at the church in Winchester Road.

Head teacher and founder of The Winchester Music School Timothy Norris said: “The concert promises to be a marvellous evening of community music-making with a programme rich in variety.

“Working together will be a wonderful chance for the members of each band to make glorious music together to the highest possible standard and to share their enthusiasm with members of the public."

The tuba playered continued: “Southampton Concert Wind Band’s guests have a long history stretching back over 110 years and in recent years have performed in Europe and in 2010, visited the Caribbean island of St Lucia to celebrate the 31st anniversary of their independence.”

The concert, conducted by Calum Gray and Greg Walker, commences at 7.30pm with etickets and tickets on the door available. Organisers are expecting an audience of around 150 people but would welcome more.
