A DRIVER has been fined after being caught speeding at 96 miles per hour.

Joseph Jerome Sullivan, 46, of Wakelin Gardens, Kings Barton, Winchester, was clocked driving at the speed on the A34 at Chieveley near Newbury on May 7 this year, Oxford Magistrates Court heard.

The legal limit on the dual carriageway is 70mph, the court was told

Sullivan was found guilty under the single justice procedure. He was not present in court.

The court fined him £666, with a £66 victim surcharge and £90 costs. Six penalty points were added to his licence.
