AFTER unprecedented delays a 10-week art exhibiton is going ahead with its charitable finale with more than 70 sculptures gathered together.
Following the death of the Queen, the Great Hall in Winchester has been used as a space for mourning. Consequently, the city council advised the Hares of Hampshire Farewell Event to postpone.
The Hares of Hampshire team have been busy preparing and rearranging the farewell event and grand auction initially intended to take place from September 9, just one day after the Queen died.
The public art exhibition has now announced that the event will be taking place from Friday, September 23 to Sunday, September 25 before the grand auction on Tuesday, September 27.
The finale will take place in the Great Hall, with all of the uniquely designed hares and smaller leverets that were previously on display around Winchester and Southampton coming together one last time before they go under the hammer.
Nicknamed ‘hare today, gone tomorrow’ the concluding display will be open to the public 10am-7pm on Friday and 10am-5pm throughout the weekend in the Great Hall courtyard.
Sponsors, artists and the trail team will be on hand to talk to visitors and give more detail on the exhibition hosted by Wild in Art.
The hares will then go to their forever homes following an auction event, raising money for the Murray Parish Trust. All 31 of the large hares decorated by Hampshire artists along with four of the leverets designed by schools will sold in aid of emergency care at Southampton Children's Hospital.

The public will be able to attend online or in person from 6.30pm at the Great Hall in Castle Avenue on Tuesday, September 27.
Similar art trails have seen animal sculptures sell between £3,000 and £40,000.
