A discarded cigarette butt
IT was a small act but with a big consequence.
Kathleen Connors dropped a cigarette butt in Above Bar, Southampton, on March 31, a court heard.
Connors, 34, of Carousel Park, Basingstoke Road, near Micheldever, has been prosecuted by Southampton City Council and her case was heard at Portsmouth Magistrates Court on Tuesday August 30. Connors was not present in court and the case was proved under the single justice procedure.
Magistrates fined Connors £220 with a £34 victim surcharge and ordered a payment of £168.75 towards the cost of the prosecution, to be paid by September 27.
