Marwell Zoo is the latest attraction to confirm it will temporarily close as Hampshire mourns the death of Her Majesty The Queen.
On Thursday, September 8, Buckingham Palace announced The Queen had sadly died after serving as head of state for more than 70 years.
The Prince of Wales is now King, having acceded to the throne immediately on the death of his mother.
In a statement, the Palace said: “The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.”
The Colden Common zoo has said it is "deeply saddened" by her passing and has taken the decision to close to visitors on Friday, Sepember 9.
All prebooked tickets will remain valid until December 31.
Writing on Facebook, it said: "We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Her Majesty The Queen and we offer our deepest condolences and sympathies to the Royal Family at this time. Queen Elizabeth II has ruled for longer than any other Monarch in British history. Marwell will close to guests on Friday, September 9 while we join with people around the world in mourning her loss.
"All prebooked tickets for that day can be used for a revisit and will remain valid until December 31, 2022.
"Please keep an eye on our social media channels and website for updates in case the period of national mourning affects opening."
Theatre Royal Winchester announced a similar closure soon after the news broke on Thursday evening.
A spokesperson for Play to the Crowd, the charity behind the theatre, said: "Play to the Crowd are deeply saddened by the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. Out of respect, Theatre Royal Winchester will be closed until Tuesday, September 13.
"All shows during this time will be cancelled. Ticket holders will be contacted shortly."
