Theatre Royal Winchester has confirmed it will temporarily close as the city mourns the death of Her Majesty The Queen.
On Thursday, September 8, Buckingham Palace announced The Queen had sadly died after serving as head of state for more than 70 years.
The Prince of Wales is now King, having acceded to the throne immediately on the death of his mother.
In a statement, the Palace said: “The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.”
Play to the Crowd, the charity behind the theatre, said it was "deeply saddened" by her passing.
It has since confirmed the theatre will be closed until early next week, with all scheduled shows set to be cancelled.
A spokesperson said: "Play to the Crowd are deeply saddened by the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. Out of respect, Theatre Royal Winchester will be closed until Tuesday, September 13.
"All shows during this time will be cancelled. Ticket holders will be contacted shortly."
