A TOP-RANKING Hampshire country pub has been given full marks for its food hygiene.
The Mayfly in Fullerton, Stockbridge was given a five-out-of-five rating following an inspection on August 24, the Food Standards Agency's website shows.
It means that of Test Valley's 111 pubs, bars and nightclubs with ratings, 90 (81 per cent) have ratings of five and none have zero ratings.
The fresh score caps off an impressive few weeks for the spotless boozer.
Just last month, The Guardian ranked the Mayfly among the top 20 best waterside pubs in England.
The paper looked at a range of pubs taking into consideration the stunning views over lakes and rivers to find out where the prettiest places to enjoy a pint could be found.
It said: "Sit under a parasol outside this gabled Victorian redbrick pub with views out to a small weir. Lunch on local trout then explore Chilbolton Cow Common, the Black Chalk winery and the timber-framed village of Wherwell."
Situated along the River Test, the pub has has picked up a host of plaudits for its "stunning location" and "relaxing atmosphere" - as shown by its 4.4 star review on Google.
Managed by Chiswick-based brewery giant Fuller's, the Mayfly was named the winner of the Best Country/Village Pub category in last year's Griffin Trophy, the chain's annual Pub of the Year competition.
