A CHILDREN'S cancer charity hosted its first ever charity golf day at Ampfield Golf Club for golfers and families.
Ampfield Golf Club hosted charity Alfie’s Wish family golfing event, raising more than £18,000 to help children with cancer.
The event, on Friday, August 26, saw 76 golfers take part in an afternoon of four-ball golf, with various companies sponsoring the holes.
Players took part in pairs, tee-ing off at 2.30pm before families were welcomed from 5pm for food, raffles, a live auction and games. A total of 250 people took part in the festivities.
Alfie’s Wish charity patron David Prutton hosted the event, whilst ex-Saints player Jason Dodd also took part and DJ David Hughes (Hughesboy) brought the evening to a close with a finale DJ set.
Ticket proceeds went towards the charity, to help children aged zero to 16 living with cancer make more memories by funding family days out.
Ex-footballer and current Sky Sports presenter David Prutton said: “The first official Alfie’s Wish golf day was a roaring success. The goodwill, support and hard work of both organisers and attendees reflects how valued, appreciated and important this charity is. It’s an absolute honour and a privilege to be their patron and I am excited to work with Alfie’s Wish on all fantastic future events.”
