AN evensong celebrating the life of Simon Barwood will be held on Saturday September 24.
Simon, 52, died suddenly during the pandemic in 2020 and so no memorial service could be held.
All are welcome to join in the cathedral or via live stream for Choral Evensong celebrating his life at 5.30pm, with music sung by the Boy Choristers and Lay Clerks.
Simon sang a number of times with David Hill at Winchester Cathedral and in 2000 started his long service at the Cathedral as Lay Clerk and Communications Officer.
As Simon died during the 2020 Covid pandemic his family were only able to hold a small funeral.
As a well-known and well-liked member of the Winchester community, both in the cathedral and in the local music scene, the family hopes this service will be as well attended as possible.
If you intend on going the service, please RSVP to Ann Barwood amb@exeter-cathedral.org.uk
Donations in memory of Simon are for ‘Winchester Cathedral’ and may be given at https://simonbarwood.muchloved.com/
