TWO diseased trees have been cut down by contractors after their condition sparked safety fears.
Contractors chopped down the trees on St George's Street next to the Casson Block yesterday evening.
The chosen time meant traffic congestion on the major road was reduced to a minimum.

Last week the Chronicle reported online how disease had taken hold of one of the trees, so badly that it was shedding its bark.
The action was taken by Hampshire County Council as the trees are on highways land.
