Romsey Town Council's planning committee sent objections to three applications involving extensions and a loft conversion.
The council met on August 18 to discuss recent planning applications and submitted several concerns to Test Valley Borough Council.
One was for a single storey rear extension it Tadfield Road, Romsey, submitted by Mr and Mrs Watson.
Councillors has issues with its height and light impact.
They agreed that it would dominate the street scene and have an adverse impact on neighbours if the application was permitted.
Neighbours to the property, Mr Grace and Mrs Cavill, submitted an objection to the plans.
It said: "With the height and length of the 3m being right up to our boundary it will be very over bearing on our patio window and patio area causing over shadowing of at least 45 per cent (covering over half of our patio window). There is also a very large tree at the rear of their garden which takes a lot of sun light from our rear down stairs patio window, patio area and garden at certain times of the year.
"If this gets passed we will be using more lighting and heating as we will loose nature light/sunlight warmth which we are encouraged to cut back on to help save the planet. Also the extra cost to us on ever increasing energy bill."

The second extension the council objected to, was in Field Close, Romsey.
The application was for a single storey front extension and part two storey part single storey rear extension, submitted by Robert Riley.
In this case, there was concern that it would be out of keeping of the street scene.

A neighbour to the property, Beverley Uphill, said: "The proposed upper window to the side will look straight onto my patio where I enjoy sunbathing and also will look straight into my lounge taking any privacy I had away. I also think it will devalue my property on these grounds.
"I bought this property on the basis that it was secluded and not overlooked from the side and also have grown mature trees and shrubs since being in the property which gives me the privacy all around my back garden which is so important to me."
Cllr Janet Burnage said: "It has the potential to be a four-bed property and there is not enough parking."

The committee were also against an application for a loft conversion wit hthe removal of a chimney and front and rear dormer, in Viney Avenue, Romsey.
It was submitted by Lucee Sillence.
Cllr Burnage said: "There is no other house in Viney Avenue that has a roof extension like that. It's being made into a four-bed house and we know the parking in Viney Avenue is ridiculous at the best of times. It's not in keeping with all the other houses."
The committee's chairman, Cllr Sally Lamb, said: "I dislike it with a passion. It's overbearing and dominating."
