A LOCAL pop culture loving solutions company has been shortlisted for the new business of the year category in British Excellence Awards.
The Lloyds Bank British Excellence awards, which aims to honour the brightest business minds in Britain, has announced their shortlist for the New Business of the Year category including local company Kid-A.
Kid-A inspired by the Radio Head studio album helps its business partners with problem solving, customer experience and sustainability. In January 2022, Kid-A became the first B Corporation accredited company in the telecommunications industry due to its social and environmental performance.

The B corporation was established in 2006 by a company called B Lab to certify eco-friendly and customer orientated businesses. Other companies who are B-Corp accredited include Ben and Jerry's, Patagonia, Brewdog, and The Body Shop.
The consultancy business, based in Staple Gardens, Winchester city centre, was founded by Radiohead fanboys Andy Silcock and Adam Toms in August 2019 following careers in telecoms, distribution, and consumer electronics.
42-year-old co-founder Andy Silcock said: “I think we’re a movement, but my colleagues are pulling me down from the clouds on that one. Ultimately, we are a consultancy, managed services & solutions business that designs and delivers tailored solution strategies that drive performance for our partners who are predominantly mobile network operators.
“To be nominated as one of the best new businesses of the year is certainly a crazy achievement for us. We’ve worked crazy hard to create a business that disrupts the norm, formulates unique ideas, and create an inspiring workplace for our amazing team to do their best work, which makes us all better and in turn, benefits our partners & their customers. So, it’s a fantastic recognition for our team, from a huge, recognisable institution and we’re amongst some pretty amazing peers in the category, so to get shortlisted is how we say internally- vibes.”
“We’re still a young business, about to turn 3 years old, and our performance vs achievements has blown us away. We’re a high performing team and as a start-up, we have disrupted our market and work with several large high-profile partners on a new model in the telecoms sector. Here at Kid[1]A, we have channelled our love of pop culture, movies, and music to create a company which is distinctive in its personality, and disruptive in its operations.”
