PUPILS from four schools helped to make a single for a talent show finalist - that has also raised hundreds of pounds for a good cause.
Hannah Williams, a graduate and former director of foundation music at Winchester University, lost out in the Voice final in March 2021.
However she has now released a single called Movin On Up’ as part of a three-part project born from her time on the show.
She worked with the University of Winchester Music Centre and 160 singers and instrumentalists to record the Primal Scream cover.
Her videos have raised more than £1,600 for Trinity Winchester and Shelter by encouraging vocalists and instrumentalists to raise £20 to take part.
Hannah said: "The support from the Music Centre throughout my experience on The Voice was second to none. It really warmed my heart and gave me courage.
"Under the banner of #teamhannah, Neil Valentine and I arranged, rehearsed and recorded my blind audition song Stay With Me Baby and my battle round song Cry Me A River along with my battle partner Sami Nathan to raise funds for Trinity Winchester - a cause close to my heart.
"Having made it all the way to the final, Neil and I decided to do something on a larger scale as we were out of lockdown and able to collaborate in person.
"The national charity Shelter felt like a natural choice to support given our previous work with Trinity. Movin' On Up by Primal Scream is a cracking tune which Neil and I thoroughly enjoyed arranging.
"This project was a lot of fun and after such a long period of working virtually, being in the same room as enthusiastic children was a massive gift."
Four local schools - Stanmore Primary School, Winnall Primary School, Twyford St Marys CofE Primary School and Western CE Primary School - were involved with the final video.
Neil Valentine, project organiser said: “We wanted to see how big we could make it.
“Hannah and I both come from school backgrounds, we’re both teachers and have worked in primary schools and have kids at primary school. So we utilised our connections and brought four primary schools together to make music, which was fantastic.
“They absolutely loved it, the pop upbeat vibe and the vocals that Hannah arranged for the kids to sing were really appropriate and really fun to sing. The whole atmosphere was a summer festival kind of vibe.
“And when you’re a kid and someone you’ve seen on telly comes into your school, it is really exciting.”
