A ROMSEY extension plan has had an objection from town councillors due to its size.
The application, submitted by Emily Dixon, is for ground floor front and rear extensions and first floor side extension, in Carisbrooke Court.
Romsey Town Council's planning committee met on July 21 and submitted an objection to Test Valley Borough Council.
On TVBC's planning website, an objector called Dawbney said: “If the rear single story extension is constructed in line with the existing east-end single story to a length of 7m, the footings are likely to be on my side of the boundary.
“From south–east end of existing single story extension there is a 0.5 meter space to the boundary. This space is reduced to 0.3 meter at the north–east end. Given that the new proposed extension will be of similar length; this will result in a space of 0.1 meter at the north–east end of the new development, resulting in footings being on my side of the boundary.”

A comment from Andy Sherlock from TVBC's tree department said: “The trees on and adjacent to the site are protected by a tree preservation order (TPO). Based on this, the applicant should submit details of how they intend to retain (as specified in the application form) and protect the trees during and after the proposed development. This information should be submitted in an arboricultural assessment and method statement. Failure to supply this information for assessment should result in a refusal of planning permission. A tree reason for refusal can be given if required.”
Town councillors agreed they should submit an objection.
Cllr Janet Burnage said: “I was trying to work how an extension would fit in that plot. It would have an adverse impact on the neighbours.”
Committee chairman Cllr Sally Lamb said: “The first floor element is hard on the boundary with the neighbour. It interrupts the spacious characteristics of this part of Carisbrooke Court. The single storey rear extension would extend to the neighbour's fence.”
