A LONG-STANDING Winchester business looks to have closed down.
County Windows, in Easton Lane, Winnall, was established in 1952 and specialised in conservatories, doors and windows.
However, it now appears to have shut with one source saying it had gone into liquidation. A Chronicle reporter visited its premises this afternoon but it was locked.
A source told the Chronicle that staff had been let go yesterday Thursday July 28 and that they had not been paid for three weeks. Also that the rent on the Winnall premises had not been paid since April.
One upset customer emailed the Chronicle: "County Windows staff were all told today they no longer have jobs. We know because they were due to install our expensive sliding doors tomorrow! The fitters told us but nothing else from the business."
County Windows has been approached for a comment.
County Glass, which is based next door to County Windows, is a separate company and is unaffected.
