AN innovative music and arts event involving the public is coming to Winchester Cathedral this autumn.

Space for Sanctuary will see members of the community bring their own music, art, poetry, theatre or dance, to share in the Cathedral.

It will be a chance on Wednesday November 23, say the organisers, to come together to "celebrate our diversity and unity" and stand with those seeking sanctuary.

Everyone is welcome and there are many opportunities to get involved, including instrumental or choral music, words, poems, movement, dance, and visual arts.

Play to the Crowd created a large puppet boat which made its debut appearance at Hat Fair recently. The boat will be on show in the University of Winchester Chapel until it makes its way down to Space for Sanctuary in November.

Alongside this, Hampshire Cultural Trust are creating an exhibition which aims to give context around the roles Winchester and Hampshire and have played with regards to Sanctuary over the centuries.
