A NEW Mediterranean cafe and deli is set to open in Winchester city centre.
Olive will take over the site of the former cafe, Eat Drink Be in Walcote Place, which closed in 2021.
The owners, Harry Madden and Imogen Tatem-Wyatt, are expanding their current business Proven Slice, which currently operates out of The Railway Inn.
Harry said: “Our vision for Olive is a welcoming and casual Mediterranean inspired cafe/bar/deli, serving fresh pasta handmade every day alongside fresh vibrant rice and grain salads and hot piadinas, Italian roast coffee and a small fresh and dried deli selection to have at home.
“Transitioning at night into a nice quiet spot to stop for a drink or a small plate or deli platter when heading into or out of town. Pizza will be available on some evenings, but we know there are already more than enough pizza focused places in town already.
“We are looking for local suppliers or producers of food/drinks products to blend with our imported produce, so please do reach out to hello@olivewinchester.com if you would like to be involved with our project, we will get back to you promptly. We’re also looking for local staff, so please send a CV over if interested in working front or back of house.
“The @provenslice Instagram account will be providing social updates, until we transition over to the new social accounts and also the website will provide updates at www.provenslice.com.”
Harry and his fiancé Imogen have also been using an electric milkfloat to attend wedding and parties with Proven Slice. It will be parked outside Olive when it opens. The opening date is not yet known.
