THANKS have been given to the sponsors who have enabled a popular visitor attraction to buy a life-saving defibrillator.

A ceremony was held during Twyford Waterworks Trust’s open day on July 3 to thank Southern Water, Twyford Parish Council and Hampshire County Council for enabling the trust to purchase a defibrillator for the Waterworks Museum.

The event was attended by Alex Willumsen, community partnerships and programme manager, and Joe Murphy, head of health, safety and wellbeing, both from Southern Water, and Cllr Sue Cook, Anna Bispham, Matthew Feldwick and Graham Feldwick from the trust.

Twyford Waterworks Trust chairman, Graham Feldwick, said: “Twyford Waterworks is a wonderful place to volunteer and to visit, we welcome several thousand visitors each year and we have a thriving team of volunteers, who lovingly restore and maintain the site.

“It’s vitally important that the site is safe for everyone and our trust is most grateful to Southern Water, Twyford Parish Council and Hampshire County Council for their generous support.”

Graham also thanked Southern Water for the recent provision of first aid training for some of the volunteers.

The next open day at Twyford Waterworks will be on Sunday August 7. Full details about the waterworks can be found at twyfordwaterworks.co.uk.
