AN HISTORIC railway will be hosting a blast from the past with a programme of jive dancing, live music, traditional fete fun and vintage vehicles displays.
The Watercress Line is set to welcome visitors to celebrate the 1950s and 1960s at its Alresford and Ropley stations from Saturday, August 27 to Monday, August 29.
Live performances at Ropley station include singer Stephanie Belle, a professional singer of 20 years, who will join the Super Jets and Miss Holiday Swing.
Meanwhile, at Alresford visitors can get involved and dance with That’s Jive, who run jive and jitterbug classes in Hampshire and Surrey.
Visitors are encouraged to embrace the nostalgia and dress in 50s and 60s costumes and take part in vintage fete activities such quoits and horseshoes or the strength-testing high striker.
The steam locomotives will still be running throughout the weekend, allowing unlimited train rides for passengers across all four heritage stations - Alresford, Alton, Ropley and traditional country station Medstead and Fourmarks.
The Watercress Line’s acting managing director Alison Houghton said: “This August bank holiday promises to be full of nostalgic fun from the 1950s and 60s. With fantastic music, dance, steam train rides and vintage displays, there’s plenty for everyone to enjoy. Don't miss out, get your tickets in advance online through our website.”
