A SWANMORE man has been charged with drink driving after he was stopped by police in the village.

A patrol intercepted Max Gardener's car in the early hours of Saturday, July 9, the police tweeted.

Gardener, 20, of Horders View, Swanmore, was charged with drink driving, driving without a licence and driving without insurance.

He is due in Portsmouth Magistrates Court on Wednesday August 10.

In a Facebook post, the police said: "Some joint working between our Neighbourhoods officers and Response & Patrol officers has led to a man being charged with a drink drive offence.

"Whilst out on early morning patrols in the early hours of Saturday 9 July, police stopped a Volkswagen Polo on Cott Street, Swanmore, due to the manner of its driving."

Following enquiries, Max Gardener, aged 20, of Horders View in Swanmore was charged with drink driving, driving without a licence and driving without insurance.

He was bailed to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court on 10 August.
