A NEW coffee shop and wine bar has opened in Winchester city centre, on the site of the former Dinghams Cookshop.
Autumn House, in The Square, opened its doors on May 25 and is owned by Alex Donnan and Laura Turner from General Store and the new Pump House.
The cafe sells a variety of cakes and scones, as well as having a deli counter.
In the evenings, it becomes a wine bar with a large selection and tasting sessions taking place.
In the next few weeks, a retail space will open, selling cookware products from small independent makers.
Before Autumn House opened, a poster outside said: “To keep the spirit of Dinghams alive, you can shop a carefully curated selection of home and cookwares.”
Dinghams Cookshop closed in January after owners could no longer afford to pay the rent.
Staff member Reece Comberbach said: “It has been very good since we opened, people seem to be enjoying the deli counter and the cakes. The feedback has been very positive.
“We also have wine tasting in the evenings. The selection of wines here is unlike anywhere else in Winchester.
“We are in a beautiful location, so close to he cathedral. People have been enjoying the afternoon sun when they come here.”
