WINCHESTER civic chiefs are looking at repeating a pop-up outdoor cinema next to the bus station.
The four-day event last month in Busket Yard saw four films shown - Mamma Mia, Encanto, Bohemian Rhapsody and The Greatest Showman to a potential audience of 200 seated on deckchairs.
The council said the free event was sold out although many ticket holders did not attend.
The event was promoted on social media although the council did not publicise because it fell in the pre-election 'purdah' period.
In a statement the council said: “This event had 800 booked tickets but not everyone showed up. We did contact participants to let us know if they no longer wanted their tickets so we could free up spaces on the waiting list. The photo of empty deckchairs is an image of the event set up before anyone arrived."
Were you one of 800 people who joined the sing-alongs during our free outdoor cinema event in Busket Yard? It was a sell out for all screenings as we sung our hearts out to Mamma Mia, Encanto, Bohemian Rhapsody & The Greatest Showman!
