Winnall Rock School is celebrating its 18th year with a concert at the Theatre Royal Winchester.

The summer show called Love is Power will be on July 14 at 7.30pm.

Peter Brown, Winnall Rock School project coordinator, said: “On May 1, 2022, Winnall Rock School will be 18 years old! We are proud to have served and brought some joy to over 400 young people in Winchester, all for free.

“Through making original music and songs, we have supported a range of emotional, educational, social and mental health needs. Post-Covid, requests for our service are growing.

“Our pre-Covid methods and our ambitions to create a ‘Community Music and Wellbeing Space’ are on hold. With continuing uncertainties and new opportunities, we want to rethink our aims and means.”

The rock school provides accessible music-making opportunities and support the wellbeing of young people, particularly during their adolescent years.

Anyone can sign-up, but they prioritise 30 free spaces each year to young people with less access to such opportunities and who would benefit from having additional support.
