POLICE have thanked the public for their patience while they dealt with an incident in Winchester city centre.
Emergency services were called to the scene in the Romsey Road area, on Tuesday, April 19 after 5pm.
A post on Winchester Police Facebook page said: "You may have seen a large police presence in the Romsey Road area of Winchester this evening, officers were responding to a concern for welfare on the railway bridge.

"We are happy to confirm the incident is now resolved and we have arranged support for the individual involved. We would like to thank the community for their patience whilst the road was closed.
"Officers from the Winchester City Neighbourhood Team are on duty this evening. If you need us please use the appropriate channels, calling 101 or reporting online using the Hampshire Police website. If it is an emergency always dial 999."
A police spokesman said they were called at 5.32pm and the person was in the care of officers by 6pm.
