AN APPEAL to raise money to help Ukrainians refugees has raised more than £29,000 - and has been backed by the MP for Winchester.
MP Steve Brine encouraged others to donate to Newsquest's #ThereWithUkraine appeal.
The fundraiser was set up by publisher Newsquest last month, and all of its publications - including the Hampshire Chronicle - showed their support by placing the campaign on their front pages.
Now the campaign, which has a JustGiving page, has raised nearly £30,000 for the Ukraine Crisis Appeal run by The British Red Cross Society.
Mr Brine said: "I am backing the #ThereWithUkraine appeal. We have done so much already - whether that be offering to open our homes or sending essential supplies out to Ukraine but what they really need is cash. And that's why this fundraising appeal is so important. So whatever you can give, however small, it really can make a big difference."
