A NEW house in a Winchester front garden has been approved despite objections from neighbours.
Phil Webb applied to knock down a garage at his home, Barton Edge, Worthy Road, and build a three-bedroom house on the site.
It attracted nine objections with reasons including over-development and overshadowing.
Whilst Barton edge is an early 20th century house the new dwelling is modern in design.

Neighbour Diana Burr addressed the planning committee: "The building is going to be opposite my kitchen window. It will be built up a slope so the three-storeys will appear like four storeys."
But the plan was praised by the preservation watchdogs the City of Winchester Trust.
Cllr Jane Rutter said: "On the face of it it is a simple application but I'm concerned by the concerns of the near neighbours. The new dwelling has the potential to be slightly over-bearing on those flats. But it is a way away and part of the Winchester townscape with various flats in gardens."
The committee voted unanimously to approve the scheme.
