A Winchester church is the latest to announce it'll be holding a vigil for Ukraine.
St Paul’s Church in St Paul’s Hill will be holding the vigil at 7.30pm on Thursday, March 17 in a showing of solidarity with those effected by the ongoing conflict.
Members from churches across the city will attend the vigil, with all welcome to join.
There will be prayers, readings and time for reflection, with the Camerata playing music by Grieg, Elgar, Finzi and Andrew Moore, their conductor. A collection will be taken for the Christian Aid DEC Ukraine crisis appeal.
Andrew said: "We have all been deeply affected by the events in Ukraine and this vigil with music will not only serve to raise some money but also give some musical expression to our feelings at this time."
Revd Mary Copping, assistant Priest in the parish, who has drawn together participants from churches across the city, said, "In such an appalling situation, like everyone around us, we want to do anything we can to help."
"We are called to be where god is," said Revd Professor Liz Stuart, "god has come down to stand with those who are poor, those who are hungry, those who are hated or excluded, those who weep. We will be holding the people of Ukraine before the heart of God."
