Concerned passers-by first spotted her through the glass shortly after the popular Winchester coffee spot closed at 6pm.
Residents and staff from the neighbouring Waitrose attempted to keep her calm while the alarms were going off, and others took to social media in a bid to find a keyholder.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service confirmed one fire engine from Winchester attended the scene at 6.45pm, but owing to the lack of a fire escape could do little to immediately help the situation.

However, a member of staff was finally tracked down soon after and returned to atone for the Costa-ly error, releasing the woman just after 7pm - an hour after the ordeal originally began.
Costa Coffee has been approached for a comment but has yet to respond.
