AN AUTHOR from Romsey has thanked her supporters after her book became an Amazon top seller within four hours of its launch.
Vanessa Dooley released the third edition of her book Are you ready for inspection? and it shot up the charts to be named number one bestseller in three categories - pre-school and nursery education books, school inspections, and early childhood education, writes Kirsty Dawson.
Vanessa is also the founder of Jigsaw Early Years Consultancy.
Her book is a practical guide to support those working in early years. It provides early years practitioners with the tools to be able to motivate their teams to evaluate and improve their practice. It gives tips to help with Ofsted inspections.
Vanessa published the first edition of Are you ready for inspection?, in September 2018, which was also a best seller.
The second edition was published in August 2019.
The third edition highlights the shift change in Ofsted inspections post-pandemic and the stress and anxiety this has caused many owners and practitioners.
Vanessa said: “During the past 21 months, early years has maintained the consistency with what children needed.
“Life has changed dramatically and having first-hand knowledge working with early years settings and as a former Ofsted inspector, I knew I could help relieve some of the stress and anxiety that comes with an inspection.
“The book was rewritten and includes many free downloads to help support settings for the world in which we now find ourselves.
“With two new chapters and 12,000 words, I am delighted and amazed with the number of messages I have received since its launch.
“Thank you to everyone who purchased and supported it, in just four hours it reached number one.”
Vanessa has been working with children or with people who work with children since 1987.
She has had a varied career within the sector ranging from a research nursery nurse, a group manager for several nurseries in Hampshire, a qualified assessor and internal verifier for early years, and then the founder of Jigsaw Early Years Consultancy.
She is also a qualified teacher in the early years sector and a lecturer for the foundation degree.
