HIGH pressure will dominate UK weather maps in the outlook period.

This is good news for both counties because in simple terms it means essentially dry weather.

There is a risk of one or two well-scattered showers this weekend but most areas should remain dry.

Temperatures around the mid-January are normal at first before a much colder spell arrives next week.

This could see the arrival of some wintry showers for a time later in the forecast period, especially over high ground in north and east Hampshire.

Overnight frosts are likely and some could be moderate.

As well as frosty conditions, any mist and fog patches that form may be slow to clear on some days.
