Three rabbits at Southampton Blue Cross looking for a new home

The rabbits are currently being looked after by the Blue Cross in Southampton but are all looking for a forever home.

When it comes to our long-eared friends, Blue Cross know their stuff. They say: “Rabbits make great pets, but they do need lots of space so that they stay happy and healthy.

“They also get lonely, so we will often rehome two together.”

Daisy

Age: 1 year
Breed: Crossbreed

Daisy is looking to find a home with a lonely, neutered male rabbit to call her hus'bun.

She would love the company and have someone to spend her days exploring and snuggling up with.

She is an independent girl, and is not too keen on being picked up or stroked. She loves her vegetables and hopefully with time and some shared veggies she will become a bit more comfortable with touch.

As she is a big girl, weighing in at 4.3kg, access to spacious accommodation would be ideal. She enjoys going out in the run; exploring and hopping in and out of cardboard boxes or through a tunnel.

Winston and Bill

Brothers Winston and Bill are looking to be rehomed together. Picture: Blue Cross

Age: 7 months old
Breed: Crossbreed and lionhead

Winston and Bill are an attractive pair who like to stick together. The brothers enjoy each other's company and like to lie down next to each other for a snooze.

A sweet pair, they will tolerate being stroked but would benefit from a new owner who has had rabbits before who would be happy to build on this using some positive reinforcement to make them feel more comfortable. Some tasty veggies will certainly help with this!

They currently live indoors and would like to continue to do so in their new home – somewhere spacious so they can hop to their heart's content.

They haven't had access to the outside before but, if you did have a garden, they would be happy to give it a go and sample some tasty grass.

Not suited to being pets for very young children, they may be able to live with older, calm children who would be happy to take it slow as they are not overly cuddly rabbits.

Fresh herbs are their absolute favourite so if you stock up on these, they'll be your friends in no time!
