COUNCILLORS in Sparsholt have called an extraordinary meeting to discuss plans to convert agricultural buildings in new homes.

Sparsholt Parish Council will meet on December 30 to discuss an application by Alfred Homes to convert three existing buildings to into three new bungalows and a new office for the building company.

Alfred Homes as lodged two proposals with Winchester City Council for the development at Church Farm, on Woodman Lane.

The current applications concern the change of use of the land and buildings.

The company has said on its website: “The bungalows will range in size from one bedroom to two, each with parking and private gardens. The office will be set over two storeys within the largest existing building and is to be clad in dark timber. All will be set around a central, attractively landscaped courtyard with parking spaces serving the three buildings. Access will be via Church Farm Lane, with the junction to Woodman Lane already improved to accommodate the increased traffic movements.”

A notice from the parish council reads: “You may wish to influence the views of the parish council who will submit a response to each application. To do this you can express your views either by attending the parish council meeting or by writing to the clerk. in either case please contact the clerk before the meeting commences by email to clerk@sparsholtparish.org to say that you will either attend the meeting or wish comments to be taken into account.”

Some of the barns on the site were previously given permission earlier this year for demolition, to make way for the erection of seven homes with associated landscaping and parking.

Anyone who wishes to attend the meeting is asked to take a lateral flow test beforehand and only attend if they are negative.
