TWYFORD Parish Council will progress with its flood mitigation plans after receiving a funding boost.
Around £65,000 of Winchester City Council's Community Infrastructute Levy has been allocated to the scheme.
Parish chiefs are looking to make space for an extension to the village's community car park, which was first planned in 2019. The area is prone to flooding so this has become the main priority.
Cllr Kelsie Learney said: "These extensive flooding works will free up space for building on the car park."
The facility provides the only off-street parking in the village and accommodates spaces for a doctor’s surgery, pharmacy and the village hall.
These are of a wider benefit to residents beyond the village of Twyford and at present the car park is not large enough to cope with demand.
