FACING cancelling their annual print exhibition for the second time the Winchester Photographic Society has responded to the current pandemic closures by taking the event online.
A panel of three experienced judges viewed have over 580 entries remotely, selecting 252 images from 47 members.
The selected images showcase the highest standards of skill and creativity in the region with images divided into beginners, free subject, Hampshire, human portrait, nature, street-urban, action, monochrome, creative and scapes.
The exhibition is part of Hampshire Cultural Trust’s (HCT) digital platform, Culture on Call, which was launched a year ago to bring culture and communities together during this challenging time.
From Saturday (March 13) visitors can see features on the 2021 winning images and a gallery of all the selected images on cultureoncall.com.
There will be interviews with winning photographers to come and visitors will also be able to purchase prints of their favourite images and vote for the People’s Choice award online, which will be collated at the end of the exhibition.
Trevor Morecraft, Winchester Photographic Society president, said: “This exhibition is one of the highlights of our society’s year. It is a chance for WPS Members to display and showcase their work. I am proud, as President of WPS, of the quality and variety of the photographs displayed here and I very much hope that you will enjoy your visit and accept a warm welcome from the Winchester Photographic Society”.
HCT has said it is pleased to be able to share Winchester Photographic Society’s images online for a second year.
