WICKHAM Horse Fair has been cancelled for the second year running due to Covid-19 restrictions.
A post on Twitter from Hampshire police’s Countrywatch team today (Saturday) confirmed that the event had been cancelled.
The Tweet reads: “This year's Wickham Horse Fair has been cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions. In order to help keep each other safe and prevent the spread of coronavirus, the decision has been taken to cancel the fair. The authorities expect the event to take place as normal in 2022.”
The cancellation follows consultation between representatives of the event and local authorities including Hampshire Constabulary, Winchester City Council and Hampshire County Council
The one-day event is massive part of the traveller community's calendar attracting people from across the UK.
It is a place to buy and sell horses as well as a huge social gathering.
