The number of reported crimes has fallen in Hampshire over the summer - compared to last year.
Reports of shoplifting nearly halved whilst vehicle crime also saw a dramatic decrease of over 700 reported incidents.
Whilst bicycle theft saw a decrease of over 30 per cent.
In comparison to the same period last year, overall crime reports in the county have dropped from 23,437 in 2019 to 22,985 in 2020, according to the latest police statistics.
The graph shows how many crimes were reported in June and July 2019 compared to the same period this year.
From the data it is clear to see that shoplifting has seen a dramatic decrease of more than 40 per cent. This could be a direct result of covid shopping restrictions and less people frequenting stores in the county.
Burglary has also decreased, this is potentially due to many more people staying in their homes and working from home, therefore houses have not been empty.
However, the number of reported violence and sexual offences has maintained at a high rate with an increase of 697 compared to last year.
Reports falling under anti-social behaviour and public order have increased by nearly 20 per cent.
This could be due to pubs and bars opening again in July and the government relaxing some lockdown regulations.
The number of robbery and theft from a person remained low with the numbers nearly equal to the same time last year.
