SPEEDING drivers often get prosecuted for just breaking the speed limit by a few miles per hour.
Alex Andrew Brown smashed the limit, when he drove at 89mph in a 40mph zone. He was recorded driving 49 miles per hour above the legal limit and on a single carriageway.
Brown, 23, of Hatherley Road, Fulflood, Winchester, admitted the offence committed in a Y-reg VW on March 6 on the A32 Midlington Road at Droxford in the Meon Valley.
He was in Basingstoke Magistrates Court to be fined £345 with a £35 victim surcharge, £85 costs.
Brown was not banned from driving but had six penalty points added to his licence.
