During this difficult time, it’s important to support local businesses. The Hampshire Chronicle and Winchester BID (Business Improvement District) have teamed-up to shine a light on businesses operating in the heart of the city.
On the May 25, the Government announced their intentions to allow outdoor markets and car showrooms to reopen from June 1 and then following this all other non-essential retail, ranging from large department stores to small independent shops, to reopen from June 15.
SHOPS SET TO REOPEN FROM JUNE 15 AND WINCHESTER’S RETAILERS ARE RARING TO GO!
At a time like this, it is important to support local businesses and this will help Winchester to recover from the economic impact of Coronavirus (Covid-19) as well as help to ensure that our city centre continues to be a great place to live, visit, study, work and do business. We have collated a list of shops and branches in the city centre, including those required to close temporarily which can reopen from June 15. The list can be seen below and is being promoted by the Hampshire Chronicle.
While this is great news for retailers and shoppers, we must not forgot that there are still other sectors which have been required to close temporarily which will need to wait a little longer before they can open their doors again and welcome you back. We look forward to their reopening soon and here are some useful tips for how we can all support our local business community at this time. If you are able and it is safe to do so, please support your local businesses.
- Open businesses have new safety measures in place to protect you and their staff and provide peace of mind so you can enjoy your visit.
- Many businesses across a wide range of sectors can still provide services to you remotely or online.
- You can choose to ‘shop locally’ online and support local businesses.
- Order local takeaway or home delivery.
- Buy gift vouchers to use later.
- Rate your favourite local businesses with 5-star reviews.
- Donate online to local charities.
- Find out more by visiting the websites of your favourite local businesses or by following them on social media.
- Follow Winchester BID on social media – we are sharing updates from local businesses using #HelloWinchester on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
