WINCHESTER city councillor Kim Gottlieb has proposed converting a medical centre into offices.
Cllr Gottlieb owns the St Clements Surgery on Tanner Street and has submitted a planning application for the change.
The GP surgery is set to move to a new site on the corner of Friarsgate and Upper Brook Street.
Cllr Gottlieb said: “The purpose of the application is simply to ensure that, in the period between the GP practice relocating to the proposed new surgery and the development of the larger site commencing, the existing building can be put to good use.
"I bought the building back in 2016 to protect the site from a re-hash of the Henderson proposal which seemed to be on the cards, and while the JTP exercise has taken things in a far better direction, there is still much work to do before a development proposal emerges which benefits the whole city, and respects its heritage.”
Before the 1960s building became a surgery, it is believed, it had originally been offices.
