THE inquest opened today (Friday, July 6) into the death of a milkman killed on his delivery round in Alresford.
Central Hampshire Coroner Grahame Short heard evidence that Allan Knight, 53, of Lime Close, Colden Common, died of multiple injuries in a collision in Winchester Road, Alresford on Tuesday morning.
He heard that Mr Knight, who had worked as a milkman in the Alresford area for some 30 years, was identified by his widow Linda.
Mr Short adjourned the hearing until a date to be fixed.
Meanwhile the police have arrested and released a lorry driver in connection with the crash.
A 32-year-old Southampton man, the driver of a 7.5 tonne Dairy Crest lorry was detained on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has been bailed until November 7.
Police renewed their appeal for witnesses to call 0845 045 4545 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
