Romsey Male Voice Choir celebrated the town's 400 years of Royal Charter with their own Charter Concert at Romsey Abbey Romsey Male Voice Choir with Thornden Community Wind Band entertained a full Romsey Abbey on Saturday, June 23.
The choir under their musical director Hannalie Bekker sung 16 numbers from their repertoire to include the Fishermen of England, Nessun Dorma, Soldiers chorus, and Bohemian Rhapsody by Freddie Mercury.
The Wind Band, conducted by Richard Stannard, played parts from the Second Suite in F for Military Band by Holst also pieces by Vaughan Williams and J S Bach.
The concert was rounded off by a grand finale of a joint performance of An American Trilogy by the Choir and Wind Band.
Amongst the audience of over 350 were Romsey MP Sandra Gidley and her husband, Romsey Mayor Mark Cooper with his Mayoress wife, Dr Sue Tippett, and Test Valley Mayor Pam Mutton and her consort.
After the concert the audience enjoyed a glass of wine and canapés in the church rooms. The concert was in association with music in Romsey.
The choir would like to thank everyone who helped to make the occasion a success.
