SIR - Re the bus numbers story (Chronicle, June 21).
What lunatic statement will we be reading next!
There are two reasons that have probably caused numbers of people using local buses to improve.
One is because parking charges have increased significantly, and the other is because we OAPs can now obtain a free bus pass instead of having to pay £7 to get a measly number of bus tokens!
If changing a number 6 to Going to the Spring' in flashing orange letters, or an orange blob with indecipherable text are thought to improve travelling numbers, I fear for the so-called marketing skills of Stagecoach.
The number of dismayed people I have observed, realising that the bus they want is moving away without them, is quite distressing.
Come on Stagecoach. Have the courage to admit that you are wrong and restore the number 6. Not everyone who uses the number 6 bus wants the Spring' (what happened to vale'?).
A number are looking for Hyde, Abbott's Barton or Kings Worthy.
