SIR - It may be true that the shopkeepers of New Alresford are responsible for hogging the parking spaces in the town.
However, as many residents will have noticed, a number of parking spaces have been occupied over recent weeks by Broad Street householders who have been treating themselves to fashionable house makeovers.
One house had three or four tradesmen's vans and a skip outside the house for some weeks, as well as on occasions occupying a parking space with a tarpaulin filled with gravel.
A property further down has had a skip outside for some time.
One wonders if these householders are actually being charged for the use of the parking spaces.
The vans, skips, etc, are usually there all day, rather than for the statutory two hours.
After all, the makeovers are presumably sending the selling prices of these houses well over the £1 million mark.
