Southern Electric Premier Cricket League - Division 3.
Hambledon (201 all out) beat Easton & Martyr W (109 all out).
Hambledon entertained Div 3 strugglers Easton & MW and inflicted a 92-run defeat thanks mainly to a whirlwind 50 from Dan Hewitt and an incredible 3 for 9 off Ian Turner's 10 overs.
After a rain delay, Hambledon batted first and openers James Scutt and Simon Milenko put on 63 for the first wicket before Milenko was lbw to Khan for 15.
Debutant Jack Lavous soon followed, however Mat Jones (26) joined Scutt to put on 46 for the third wicket before Scutt departed for 44.
The innings slumped to 135 for 5 before Dan Hewitt came to the wicket and struck a 43-ball undefeated 50 to take the total to a respectable 201.
Due to the rain break, Easton's target was reduced to 156 off 32 overs. At 69 for the loss of only one wicket off 18 overs, Easton were very much in command. However the introduction of Ian Turner and Simon Milenko turned the game on it's head with Turner (3-9) bowling his 10 overs immaculately and Milenko picking up 4-28 in his spell.
Easton's reply crumbled to 109 all out in the 31st over.
Waterlooville II v Hambledon II.
In Division 1 South, having lost the toss, Hambledon were asked to bat on a wet surface and in tricky, damp conditions. Graeme King (20) and Jon Burdekin (20) put on 50 for the first wicket before the introduction of Slade saw both openers removed in quick succession.
However Hambledon staged a magnificent recovery with a stand of 121 between Nick Scutt (51) and Mike de La Perrelle who finished unbeaten on 82, allowing Hambledon to close at 198 for 5 off their allotted 42 overs. Waterlooville's Stan Rudder bowled well to take 2-41 and he was supported by Slade (3-44).
Waterlooville's reply started disastrously with teenage opening bowlers Russ Green (4-17) and Mike Cowling (3-22) tearing into the opposition batting line-up, reducing them to 39 for 7 after 10 overs. Waterlooville's tail was mopped up by Chris Bosshardt (2-5) and Rhidian Chapman (1-13) to finish a shell-shocked 58 all out.
Hambledon (123 all out) lost to Bidbury (124-2).
In SERD4, Hambledon IV batted first on a damp pitch which gave the Bidbury bowlers encouragement as they restricted the Dons to 123 for 8.
Good initial resistance from Jon Bridgman continued by Jon Morris and Bill Durbin meant the Dons batted out their overs - but tight and aggressive bowling stopped the villagers posting a defendable total.
When Bidbury batted they were clearly intent on a quick finish, hitting hard at everything. Ash Fooks was particularly unlucky with several high edges falling safe. The two wickets that fell only brought cleaner hitters to the wicket! Bidbury achieved their 8 wicket win just after the drinks break.
