Southern Electric Premier League - Division 2.
Trojans (163ao) lost to Lymington (241-8).
Trojans suffered their sixth league defeat of the season when they went down by 68 runs to Lymington. Although Hal Mohammed was unavailable, Trojans were boosted by the return of Jamie Donaldson, Jamie Wood, Simon Williams, Tim Felstead and John Sluman. With the threat of rain at the start they won the toss and put Lymington in to bat.
The home team made an excellent start. After Australian S Raphael hit a single off the first ball, Felstead bowled Darbyshire with the second ball of the match. After Lymington captain Adie Hunt had helped Raphael add 31 for the 2nd wicket, Felstead dismissed Hunt for 8 and Wiggins for 0 in the same over to leave Lymington 31 for 3.
However Christian Payne who made 9 and Ollie Kelly both shared partnerships of 50 or more with Raphael before being dismissed.
When Raphael was finally run out for 102 with the score on 170, Trojans were not in a bad position with 7 wickets down, but Lymington added 71 runs for the loss of only 1 further wicket and nearly 8 runs per over to give a final score of 241 for 8. C Grierson finished unbeaten on 36 not out, M Newton made 11 and Trevor Phillips made 19 not out. For Trojans Felstead took three wickets, John Sluman two and Mario Mohammed one with two run outs.
When Trojans batted Simon Williams and Dan Babidge added 60 for the first wicket, before Babidge was bowled for 20, Mario Mohammed fell for 1, but Simon Williams and Mike Durand took the score to 109, but when Willams was out for 53, they then lost two further wickets quickly, and when Mike Durand was finally out for 34, they found themselves 130 for 6. Neil Sutherland was the only other batsman to reach double figures with 16 as they were finally bowled out for 163.
Ollie Kelly's 6-38 played a major part in the Lymington success in an unchanged spell of bowling, while Raphael also took two wickets and also held three catches off Kelly's bowling. The win enabled Lymington to move further away from the foot of the table.
Trojans travel to fellow strugglers Tichborne Park on Saturday, where both teams will be seeking their first league win of the season.
